MIKE'S BIOGRAPHY:
Mike Granatt is a native of Buffalo, New York and he lived there through his graduation from the University of Buffalo in 1964 when he obtained a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering. The next five years were spent in the United States Air Force where, while serving as a navigator, he was stationed at various locations throughout the U.S.,Southeast Asia, and the Pacific. It was during this time that he first developed an interest inphotography, wood carving, and sculpture while living in Roswell, New Mexico.
In 1969, Mike left the Air Force and joined Oakland Public Works [Oakland, CA] as an assistant civil engineer, where, aside from performing various design and construction tasks, and the preparation of technical legislation, he was also responsible for providing technical photography for landslides and other geotechnical problems. He also provided photographic records for other projects.
During this time Mike and his wife Margaret established a small commercial photography business which specialized in providing images for event publicity.
Mike's photography has also been published on a calendar and in Phorographers Forum 1985 "Best of Photography" annual.
Mike is currently [since 1990] a holder of a Certificate for the Art in Public Places Program of the Art Commission in the City of San Francisco [CA] which allows him to sell his wood sculptures and other works at various locations in San Francisco. He also sells his work at fairs and exhibits at other California locations, including the recently established Oakland [CA] Artisans' Marketplace.

MARGARET'S BIOGRAPHY:
Margaret Granatt was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. At age 15 she won a Red Cross International Art contest and her painting was exhibited both nationally and world-wide. After majoring in art her first year at the University of Hawaii, she graduated with a B.A. in English from Monmouth College in New Jersey.
After she married, Margaret worked part-time for Children,s Hospital Branches in Oakland doing layout,paste-up, writing and art work for the Branches newsletter,"Twigs". This led to several photography jobs at some of the branches fund-raising events. [From 1981-1991 the Granatts were the official program photographers for the Silverado Concours d' Elegance in Napa, CA.]
In 1982, 1983. & 1984 three of Margaret's photos were published in the "Finalist" category of the "Best of Photography Annual" sponsored by the Per othrhotographer's Forum magazine.
The majority of Margaret's current work is the creation of fish replicas in the form of painted wood wall plaques. Her other work includes resin magnets and prints reproduced from her original waatercolors. She is licensed by the San Fransisco Art Commission, under the Art in the Street Program, to sell her work at various locations throughout San Francisco and also exhibits at other California locations including the newly established Oakland Artisan Marketplace.
